“WE HAVE THIS MINISTRY”
Private
prayer has its rules. One of them is the rule of secrecy and
quiet. Thus it is that the Lord instructs us to seek out our
"closet" when we pray. That is, we are to find a place where
we can be as free from distraction as possible—not always
easy in our crowded, noisy world. Satan has a vested
interest in keeping us from praying. That is why we
experience such a struggle both in starting and in
persevering with the business of prayer. God has made
spiritual provision for us in the armor He has provided.
When we finally "break through" we reach that place of which
the hymn-writer spoke—that "place of quiet rest, near to the
heart of God," where true worship and prayer begin.
